3 Benefits of Vinyl Windows in the Winter

Home covered in snow

With winter approaching, drafts, leaks, and other window concerns may become more apparent. Replacing your windows in winter may be necessary to address these concerns, reduce energy bills, and make your home more comfortable. There are a lot of replacement window options these days. But when it comes to tackling harsh winter weather, vinyl ranks superior. Here are 3 reasons why:

Durability

Vinyl windows are made from polyvinyl chloride—a very durable material—and other components that prevent ultraviolet light from deteriorating the frame. They are less likely to warp, chip, crack, scratch or be destroyed by pests or water damage and will never rust or corrode. Some brands are manufactured with welded frames and sashes, and foam-filled frames adding to their durability and strength. Additionally, vinyl windows require little maintenance and will never need to be sanded or painted, ensuring your windows maintain their performance and beauty for years to come.

Weather Resistance

The flexibility of vinyl material is very adaptable to seasonal and extreme weather changes. Vinyl windows don’t absorb water and won’t expand and contract as much as other materials. Whether it’s extreme cold, heavy rainstorms, snow, or hail, they hold up against it all without cracking, chipping, warping, peeling, rotting, or deteriorating. As a result, these weather-resistant windows can be relied on to maintain their beautiful like-new appearance and provide fantastic thermal performance.

Increased Energy Savings

Vinyl windows have superior insulating values. Because they are non-conductive, temperature transference is very minimal. Regardless of the temperature outside, vinyl windows are helpful to reduce the risk of drafty air coming into your home. During the winter, these drafts can bring in the cold air that causes temperature fluctuations. With vinyl, your home will stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Modern models of vinyl windows have foam-filled frames and sashes, and various glass options to further increase insulation.

Had a contractor in NJ replace 17 windows using Vytex Windows in the spring. The windows are very strong and look high end. The new windows definitely helped with the drafts. Our old windows were original from 1987 and our home was freezing in the winter and hot as an oven in the summer. The new Vytex windows definitely got rid of the draft issue we had and the difference is very noticeable especially in the bedrooms. Next on our list is a new patio door from Vytex.

I am writing a nice review on my Vytex window experience. We are in new jersey and had all new windows installed about 10 months ago as well as a Vytex patio door. Our home was very drafty and made it very uncomfortable in the cold winter months and just as bad when it was hot in the summer. Our home is now much warmer and quite noticeable. The difference was equally noticeable this past summer when we had a heat wave; our home was much cooler...
